There's been a lot going on during this season of Love Island , but nothing has raised as many questions as Sherif Lanre's mysterious departure from the villa. Sherif released a mini statement that didn't really reveal much on Instagram, writing: "Thank you to everyone including my friends and family for the support I've come back to. I think I have heard other people saying it and it just popped out.SEE VIDEO BY TOPIC: Scott & Malin Get Into A HUGE Fight - Love Island 2016

The real reason Sherif was kicked off Love Island shows double standards
LOVE Island contestant Sherif Lanre was kicked out of the villa after just nine days for violating some serious rules. The former Islander has since revealed why he was asked to leave by producers. Here's what you need to know about him. Sherif , 20, from London, mutually agreed with bosses to leave Love Island after just nine days. A Love Island spokesman said: "After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.
Sherif said: "In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. Later in the week, he revealed to The Sun on Sunday he had been booted off the show for making a vile joke after accidentally kicking Molly-Mae Hague in the crotch during a play fight.
Then she stood up and seemed fine and we started laughing about it. At first it was unclear specifically what he was kicked out for, but Islander protocol includes no nudity, a ban on masturbation and the practice of safe sex. Before the details were known Sherif's mother Diana spoke out and slammed the show's "very unfair" treatment of her son and insists he's "a lovely boy".
I think so. The former contestant slammed Love Island bosses for treating him differently to other contestants. He claimed that he may have been a victim of "unconscious racism" in the villa. I think there may have been some unconscious racism.

It was announced on Tuesday 12 June that he had left the competition, with both him and the programme just saying it was because he had broken the rules of the show. His sudden exit sparked widespread speculation over the possible reason, with guesses ranging from inappropriate behaviour with another contestant or fighting on the set. However, the year-old told the Sun on Sunday that he kicked Molly-Mae by mistake. He claims he was woken up the following day and told to go to the beach hut, where he was informed he would be leaving the show. This has been blown out of all proportion and I have been made to look like a terrible person when I am not.

GQ Hype. It's been revealed that the ex-Islander was told to leave the villa after using the c-word, but it seems that different rules apply to different contestants. I just had to find out what he had done. The statements released by Lanre and ITV were so vague that it felt as though he must have done something truly terrible to be booted off after just ten days in the villa. Speculative accounts of what happened from friends of friends of friends soon poured into Twitter: he got caught masturbating in the hot tub; no, wait! It was a decision from higher up, they said, and he had to get out of the villa without packing his bags or saying goodbye to the other contestants. ITV claim they have no record of racist language being used in the villa. Our only option is to take their word for it. But, to my mind, these are offences that warrant warnings, not outright dismissal. Instead of focusing on Sherif's inappropriate but ultimately unaggressive comment and trying to mediate the media storm that has blown up around it, perhaps Love Island 's producers might want to turn their attention towards Joe Garratt, the year-old Harry Styles wannabe who is apparently great at making sandwiches but even better at manipulating women.
